Savoia-Marchetti SM.79 Sparviero
The SM.79 Sparviero was the most numerous Italian bomber of the Second World War, with about 1,300 built. Superbly flown as a torpedo-bomber in the Mediterranean, the SM.79 sank many Allied ships and, contrary to wartime propaganda, was a rugged adversary that proved difficult to shoot down. This unit is from the 283 Squadriglia, 130 Gruppo Autonomo Aerosiluranti, Sicily, 1942.
