The P.11 was the main Polish fighter at the outbreak of WW2. In fact, the P.11 was the first plane shot down in the war, during the German invasion of Poland on the 1st of September 1939. Lutwaffe planes were vastly superior, but still the skilled Polish pilots and their P.11s managed to shoot down more than 100 German aircraft. This unit is from the 113 Eskadra, Fighter Brigade, Poniatöw airbase, 1939. Unit 170-N, serial no. 8.70, pilot 2nd Lt. Hieronimus Dudwal.
