When the La-5 appeared in service in 1942 it was the first Soviet fighter with superior performance to the German Bf 109G. The most widely used series of radial-engined fighters in the Soviet Air Force inventory, 9920 were built during the Great Patriotic War.
This version is from the 2nd GIAP, Soviet Air Force. Dnepr Front, 1943. Unit 52 from the Mongolian People's Air Squadron, Capt. N.P. Puschkin.
