When the WWII broke out, the Swedish Air Force (Flygvapnet) had no modern fighter aircraft. At this time it was impossible to purchase aircraft from abroad, consequently the Flygvapnet had to build a new fighter using the parts that were available. The result became the J-22.
This unit represents a J-22B, Flygvapnet/F18 (Serial 22212), May 1950.
